Conclusion
Climate can be described as a long-term (average 35 years) averaged weather conditions of a location, which include typical weather patterns, storm frequency and intensity, cold snaps, and hot temperatures. The five interacting components of a highly complex system that collectively make up the climate are the atmosphere (air), hydrosphere (water), cryosphere (the area of the planet that is frozen), land surface, and biosphere (the area of the earth where life resides). Farmers overwhelmingly perceive climate change as a significant threat, noting increased temperatures, erratic rainfall, and higher rates of pests, leading to reduced crop yields and increased poverty. They adapt by using early-maturing, drought-resistant seeds, adopting mixed cropping, and diversifying crops. Soybean (Glycine max) is an important leguminous crop widely cultivated in Nigeria for food, oil, and feed purposes. It is cultivated because it naturally increases soil fertility, which raises agricultural yields and in Nigeria, soybean is an important source of protein that is consumed to address nutritional issues. Moderately productive, well-drained sandy or medium-loam soil with a pH of 4.5 to 8.5 is ideal for growing soybeans. Considering the variations in the amount of rainfall in Nigeria’s savanna region, early June and the second week of July are suggested times to sow. Nigerian farmers who grow soybeans, particularly those in the country’s middle belt, are expanding their output in order to increase revenue from both local and international markets now that they are aware of the crop’s potential as a cash or food crop.BOOK CHAPTER AUGUST 2026.Paul, A.
